STARS (Scholarship Trust for Addiction Recovery Services, Inc.) is a grassroots organization that raises and distributes funds in New Hampshire for individuals seeking support in their recovery for substance use disorder.
Our vision is to assist motivated individuals in New Hampshire to bridge the gap between addiction and recovery. By bridging this gap, we hope to educate the community on the importance of supporting those in recovery.
We have been a vital part of our community for a number of years and were founded to assist in alleviating some of the costs for those in the recovery process. We have continued to grow with the help of our donors and volunteers that make our mission possible.
How We Began
Co-Founders & Honorable Trustees
Lisa Lauze & Jean Moore had a vision and a passion to help people who are active in addiction get help because they know firsthand what it feels like to watch a child battle with addiction.
Lisa is a person in long term recovery from Alcoholism since January 2005. In May of 2012 her son Andrew had a near death overdose, he sought treatment and has been in recovery since June 1, 2012.
Jean’s son Edward passed away at the young age of 22 on March 16, 2014. Edward, a beautiful young man who was loved by many, supported his Mom and Lisa’s vision to create The STARS Program, to help those seeking recovery from their chronic, progressive, relapsing brain disorder called substance use disorder (addiction).
Jean and Lisa’s mission was to raise funds to help underwrite the cost for Aftercare (sober/transitional living) programs through supplemental scholarship opportunities.
They also envisioned a way for parents/loved ones to honor an individual who lost their life to addiction by adding the Reach For The Stars page where your loved one's name will be placed in their memory with a $25.00 donation.
